Janet Jackson: Family First Documentary Gets Greenlit by Lifetime and A&E, Following the Success of Acclaimed Documentary Janet Jackson and Its 21 Million Viewers.

 Lifetime and A&E have announced a continuation of the story of Janet Jackson, following the success of their #1 documentary of 2022 which was seen by 21 million viewers. The new documentary, titled "Janet Jackson: Family First," will follow the iconic singer, songwriter, producer, author, actor, philanthropist, and global icon as she embarks on her 2023 "Together Again" tour and reunites with her family band after 40 years since their last performance. The documentary will give an exclusive, intimate, and honest look at her life, family, and legendary artistry, in her own words and experiences.

The documentary is currently being filmed and will simulcast on Lifetime and A&E, with the release date yet to be announced. It is being produced by Workerbee, a Banijay UK company, with Janet Jackson and Randy Jackson serving as executive producers. The documentary will celebrate Janet Jackson's 50th anniversary in entertainment and highlight the milestones for two of her most critically acclaimed albums, "The Velvet Rope" and "janet."

Janet Jackson is one of the most influential entertainers of the modern era, having won numerous awards for her music and acting, including five GRAMMY® Awards, two Emmy Awards, and a Golden Globe Award. She is also a published author, dancer, businessperson, and philanthropist, and has sold over 180 million records worldwide. Her last single, "Made for Now" with Daddy Yankee, released by her own Rhythm Nation Records, hit #1 on the Dance Clubs Songs chart in 2018, making it her 20th single on the chart in the span of her career.

Directed by Ben Hirsch, "Janet Jackson: Family First" promises to be a captivating and critically lauded story, continuing the legacy of the most talked-about documentary of 2022. With Janet and Randy Jackson at the helm, viewers can expect an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the "Together Again" tour and the legendary singer's life, family, and artistry.
